 The sex is the cheating action but not because they're horny. Girls cheat for several different reasons....in no particular order....
1. Pressure. An opportunity presents itself and the girl has difficulty saying no or walking away.
2. Tired of their current relationship, but can't shake their clingy boyfriend.
3. Nonexistent sex life or lack luster sex.
4. Retaliation. Cheating on their boyfriend who cheats on them.
5. Inebriated. Make note that this is not an excuse. However, alcohol and cheating go hand in hand.

 Quite simply - They like the other guy more then their current boyfriend, and they want the best of both worlds.
There a whole load of reasons why they might like that person better, and it's generally not because they are "horny".

reader, anonymous, writes (27 May 2012): People don't simply cheat because they're horney, there's a whole lot of other reasons as to why it happens. Some people just want to have their cake and eat it, others are genuinely not happy in their relationship and find an escape route in someone else's company ... Others may have gotten into a relationship and then realised they're not ready to commit to one person, so they fulfil their needs to saw their oats by sleeping around which if in a relationship = to cheating. For others it could simply be a one off mistake. Whatever the reason, cheating is wrong but unfortunately it happens and people have their reason for doing it.

If they are so horny, and they have girlfriends.. why don't they go being horny with their girlfriends then ?:)
I think it's impossible to pick one universal reason why girls- and guys- cheat, there are many. Boredom, sexual frustration, unattentive partner, revenge, ego boost, peer pressure, fickleness... just to name a few. NONE of them is a good reason, so , guys and girls, pease don't cheat :)
