When a girl sits on your lap, are you being dominated by her?

A male Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hi. I have a general question involving this type of behavior.

Imagine this: A girl (In your age group) choosing to sit on you instead of any of the empty seats around her. Also, she does this very frequently.

I think any woman doing that is being dominant to the guy she’s sitting on.

And, if it IS a sign of dominance, what message is she trying to communicate?

Thanks, for your time.

So_Very_Confused agony auntI agree... there is NO dominance in romance... or love

it's partnerships.

do you mean assertive or aggressive moves so that you know a woman in interested?

chigirl agony auntDominance isn't romance, so not sure what you're asking. Are you specifically looking for a dominatrix or something?

What female behaviors would be considered as dominant, in terms of romance? Just curious.

Whoa. It is that subtle? I guess no matter how hard I'd try to see it, I'd probably not see it.

chigirl agony auntThe girl who crosses the line, obviously. And again, you probably wont even notice she is being frozen out. It's subtle.

So, what should one expect when another girl crosses the line? Just curious.

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (21 October 2012):

chigirl agony auntWays to mark you as her territory:

Standing next to you often. Holding your hand. Sitting close to you. Following you around the room/not leaving you alone with other girls. Glare at other girls if they flirt with you. Try to steal your attention when other girls talk to you..

Things like that. Mostly it is subtle though, intended for other girls to unerstand, while the men remain unaware of what is actually happening. Girls are experts on reading between the lines, and we often communicate in very subtle ways. Even her just smiling at you in a special way can be a sign for other women to back off.

But sitting on your lap isn't even subtle, it is quite obvious and a blunt way of going about it.

Answerer 1: Probably what it is.

Answerer 2: I guess it's very forward.

Answerer 3: I see. Heh.

Answerer 4: Ok. Yeah, I don't think that she'd ever remove underpants in public.

Answerer 5: I would, but, she's frequently with someone else. Perhaps, she's trying to get me jealous?

Answerer 6/7: I guess I can't think of it as dominent behavior. Heh. Hm.... there did have some other girls around. I guess girls are somewhat territorial. Are there other ways a girl will "Mark her territory?" ?

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (21 October 2012):

chigirl agony auntIf there are other women present though, this is also a way for her to mark territory, saying she wants other women to back off because she wants you all to herself.

If you allow her to sit on your lap I am guessing you like her back, so ask her out.

chigirl agony auntIt's not about dominance... She sits on your lap because she likes you. She gives you free access to feel her bum against your crotch.. In what world is that dominance? More like submission if you ask me..

Sageoldguy1465 agony auntIt'sd definitely a sign of dominance if she is NOT wearing panties, and removes the undies from the guy before she sits down!!!!!!!

Otherwise, it's pretty innocent....

P.S. Unless she does it whilest your wife is sitting nearby.... and gives the wife a raspberry!!!!!

If there are empty seats around, and she chooses to sit on a man's lap, then I think she's saying that she likes him a lot.
