reader, anonymous, writes (17 April 2012): There is more of an obsession with using the term milf than there is with actual mothers OP. It's used to describe mature women too. Besides there are a hell of a lot of young, pretty single mothers around which could also be classified as that.
It's just a label, there is no obsession really.

I don't think it's a real obsession for anyone. It's usually something men say as a bit of a joke isn't it? Similarly to when women like older men, someone like George Clooney, say. I didn't think that the "mother" bit necessarily meant having had kids, I thought it was more of a designator a certain age group. I could well be wrong though. But, I don't think it's something people take seriously for the most part.
