If his compliment made you feel great, then meet his eyes head on and with your most winning smile and accept the compliment graciously by saying "What a nice thing to say to me! Thank you" Then start a conversation and go from there.
Sometimes being too quick to compliment a guy right after he compliments you... might come off looking insincere and fake. It's all about delivery, your confidence in saying it and really meaning it. People pick up on fake flattery real fast. And that's not the type of impression you want to make. Always handle yourself with dignity and class. That is what he'll take note of mostly about you.

 don't tell him you think he's cool, sorry jo_betty_smith but most guys are looking for you to say something complimentary about them again. Something that is more romantic or sexual or whatever.
If they think you are hot, then you should call them hot back, or sexy or something along those lines. (But only if you think they are!!) Otherwise, if you call them cool, they'll interpret it that you just want to be friends.
