Bushy I really think women should just let the hair grow.

A male reader, danman United States +, writes (29 December 2010):

Both my partner and I shave and that's the way we like it :] I don't mind the trimmed look either but bushy is nasty. It's like a woman who never cuts or brushes the hair on her head just completely slovenly.

A male reader, danman United States +, writes (29 December 2010):

To all of the people complaining about society wanting women to look like little girls just stop running your mouth for a second. The only way I would even bother to listen to you saying these outrageous remarks is if you are among the VERY few women who don't shave their legs or their arm pits. How is shaving your genitals any different? For that matter why should you cut the hair on your head and why should men shave their beards? Cutting hair is a part of the grooming process and has nothing to do with people looking like "children". If you don't like to shave then don't but stop accusing people of being perverted because they like to groom themselves a certain way.

Also I would bet you wear deodorant and use shampoo and other hair products. None of this is natural. So if you really want to go around tooting your "I'm natural horn" then stop: shaving your legs, shaving your arm pits, cutting your hair, wearing deodorant, using shampoo, etc... and then I will listen to what you have to say.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (24 March 2010):

Gross. In my opinion au natural is the best way, the only way.

1) I don't want to be with a man who prefers that my genitals look like that of an eight year old girl.

2) Agreeing with a previous poster, most of the men I have been with prefer natural. And those men were always better, much more attentive lovers, than those who preferred shaven and/or shaved themselves.

3) Out of curiosity, I have asked the men who prefer pubic hair on a woman why they do and the basic reason is that they feel it is more more womanly and feminine and thus more sexy. It is a natural biological signal of maturity and fertility.

4) I am one of the sensitive skinned ladies. I have never bothered to shave my region based on the experience I have shaving other parts of my body (irritation bumps, ingrowns, etc.). My bikini line gives me the most trouble.

If it's not gonna feel good for me, why do it?

:)

A reader, anonymous, writes (18 March 2010):

I just needed to respond to all the women out there who have mentioned razor burn and bumps and so on. There is a trick to preventing that. After you have gotten out of the shower and shaved with very warm water to open the pores around the hair. Apply to the shaven area your deoderant. It need to be white kind not the stuff that is clear. And wipe off any excess. Here's the deal have you ever noticed that your underarms never get razor burn? For some reason the deoderant prevents it. I'm 31 and have been doing this since I was 18. It works. I swear!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (24 April 2009):

basically shaved is bad because of the feel after about a day. either stay natural and tell him to get over it or wax it because it lasts longer and once it grows back after about a month, just wait a week (of no sex) for it to get longer and wax again. id rather wax once a month and have a bit of pain then shave every day and always have prickley hair.

I am a female and I personally like to be completely shaved/waxed. Even though its painful, I feel cleaner. I would want my man to be extremely trimmed (but not prickly) or shaved. If I dont even like my own hair touching my legs/body why would I want somebody elses. However, once I get super comfortable with a guy, I hope he doesnt mind a little bit of hair.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (15 April 2008):

i think you should have it trimmed

i dont think guys realise how uncomfortable it is when u shave down there

im 15 and shaved a few times and the ingrown hairs are sooooo bad and painful and unless you have sex striaght after you shave, i think the prickly feel is worse than having all the hair

razor burn hurts =[

our areas are sensitive and i think guys are way too picky!

A male reader, anonymous, writes (26 September 2007):

Hi, I am a man and I do prefer it to be shaved down there. I shave completely down there too. Not all guys like shaved women. If both partners agree to do what the other one wishes shave or not and keep it up that is best. It takes about 5 minutes a day to keep it well shaved. It is much more sensitive during sex if it is shaved so if you have a hard time climaxing this could do it for you. You will get more excited faster due to the increased sensitivity.

Im female and to be honest I know guys that dont go anywhere near unshaven and guys that love it. In my own opinion I would never expect a guy to go near me unshaven, I hate the thought of it and shave every second day to make sure it never returns.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (25 February 2007):

It really does not matter since when you get to the point of knowing whether you are shaven or not, you are probably "all in" at that point. I mean, what is a guy gonna say... "Hey, go shave before we do anything"... I doubt it. All that's on his mind is getting to home plate. If he insists, and you are uncomfortable with shaving after he knows that you have a forest, then he is not the right guy for you and you probably are not the right girl for him, so move on.

However, if you are going to wear a skimpy bathing suit down there, please trim so everything that shows is smooth. I know some people get off on seeing hair peek out, but it is rather unsightly, especially if you've shaved your legs smooth, and left a mess elsewhere.

Also, if you like for men to perform orally on you, it is much more pleasant and easier if you shave everything from just above your clit down to be smooth. Go ahead and leave a landing strip above, but make it smooth where your guy is gonna lick. Gals I have gone down on have said that by shaving that area, it gets more sensitive and enhances the oral experience. I shave my balls and junk now because of a request by one girl a long time ago because my hair made it unpleasant for her to give me a oral sex, and the enhanced experience from shaving has made oral sex more enjoyable for me, so I understand why it works for you gals.

TasteofIndia agony auntEvery guy has different tastes. Some love a chick with a nice, thick bush. And some love chicks who are rockin' the bare look. I think you can never, ever go wrong with a good ol' trimmed. Trim it closer in, and I thik it's all good. Then you can cater to everyones needs!

A female reader, Psyche United States +, writes (21 February 2007):

You need to do what makes YOU feel good. I personally think shaven is odd. Psychologically it is trying to make women and men look like children - isn't that just a little strange that people find children's genitals sexy?

There are all sorts of people in the world. The guys who are worth it want you just the way you are. And they are attracted to you because you know what you want. Don't do anything for anyone else. Do it for yourself.

In my experience my best lovers were men who liked the natural look. The ones who were obsessed with being shaven were duds. Not to mention that there is nothing less comfortable during sex than razor burn.

A reader, anonymous, writes (21 February 2007):

Shaven is fine, but I know it can get quite uncomfortable for some as the hairs grow back. So trimmed is what I prefer - it's a compromise. I don't like bushy - difficult to do oral and really messy for periods, especially when having sex during her period.

Is this about a woman's creature? I seem to be reading different things from Max and others...

A female reader, CarrieMagdelene United States +, writes (21 February 2007):

CarrieMagdelene agony auntSeeing as I'm a female, I'll give you the low-down on my routine.

Slather on the shaving cream into all nooks a crannies, whip out a razor, shave DOWN, away from your face, while you pull your skin tightly upwards. Shave around other areas as comfortabley as I possibley can. I don't ever shave into the direction of the growth. Ingrown hairs, plus I have sensitive skin, which you might too, never know. So, yea, shaven rather closely, I still look like a 2 or 3 o clock shadow, but it's smooth where it needs to be smooth, and litterally clean-shaven where it needs to be for not only my comfort, but the comfort of my boyfriend.

He says he prefers shaven, but, then, I'm the only girl he's ever been with and he's never seen me with more than a week or a week and a half's growth.

If I were you, I'd hold off on the shaving until you knew if your man would like it. Besides, I used to have really soft, fine, dark brown pubic hair...Now it's just not the same. It's like shaving your legs: It grows back thicker, darker, and not as attractive. Good luck! -Carrie
