A female reader, welbury1 United Kingdom +, writes (6 April 2009):

where to start... in my experience, red heads are stunning. One of my best friends is a red head (i have been secretly in love with her years) and as a friend she is one of the most loyal, trustworthy people i know. We confide (nearly) everything to one another. She is smart (doctor), funny, outgoing and fiercely proud and always says what she believes. The world needs more red heads.

A female reader, Holly7000 United Kingdom +, writes (24 January 2009):

Some famous redheads: Boadicea (she saw off the Romans amd rode a chariot). Queen Elizabeth I (made England great). Cilla Black (before she started colouring it brighter red) and Lulu. Lots of Vikings, lots of Highlanders fighting off the English, quite a few creative, spiritual Celts. And more recently - that sought after model Lily Cole - who is also a bit different. It's nice to be different. Both my parents are dark, and my Mum had to put up with loads of jokes about visits from the milkman (who had red hair), and it inspired my Grandad to do some family history research to see where it came from - he traced it back to a great great Grandmother whose surname was Redhead - and he reckoned she was descended from the rape and pillage of the area by the Vikings, as they used to call themselves after personal attributes. So - you are in good company. It's about what you give out that makes you have charisma - so be yourself and be confident as said before.

A female reader, Katy. United Kingdom + , writes (24 January 2009):

Katy. agony aunti'm 15 and like you've described too, and even though i'm not the prettiest without being completley done up, on a general day to day basis (not being bigheaded) i seem to get more attention than many of the other girls. I'm completley differerent and boys seem to be attracted to that, its a change for them, from someone commonly pretty, i think as long as you have self confidence then no matter what you look like you can completeley shine to anyone.

I think enhancing your "unique" features makes you look prettier, say making your hair long and not covering up your freckles makes you much prettier than trying to hide whats underneath. Everyone is up to a matter of opinion, i mean some people find some people absolutley stunning, where as others find that same person completley unnattractive, no matter what you look like. Don't worry about your appearance too much, show your bubbly firey and passionate side that us redheads have a tendancy to have, if "satindesire" like she says this is a complete myth, so what, make it true,i think a strong personality gets you alot further in life.

hope this helps. x

A female reader, Holly7000 United Kingdom +, writes (24 January 2009):

And yes of course scientific reports can't be 100% relied on - like when they say chocolate is good for you, then say it is bad for you. But I wouldn't say something if I hadn't seen the evidence - and it is one of the most positive things to be said about redheads for a long time! There was some cheerful banter in my answer by the way.

A female reader, Holly7000 United Kingdom +, writes (24 January 2009):

Sorry! It was a recently published scientific report that said so. But yes you are right - statistics can be too generalised. I was trying to be upbeat and show some of the positives of being a redhead.

A female reader, satindesire United States +, writes (24 January 2009):

satindesire agony auntI'm sorry anon, Redheads are NOT genetically wired to be more passionate. That is just a blanket statement and a false generalization, and you shouldn't go around saying those sorts of things unless you have an awful lot of SCIENTIFIC proof. You may say that because being a redhead YOU are more passionate than most women, and may know a few redheads who are more passionate, but it is simply impossible to prove that redheads have a higher libido and are 'better in bed' with any sort of scientific accuracy.

It IS, in fact, a myth.

By the way, I am a redhead myself.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (24 January 2009):

So do I! And I am much older than you. And believe me, you have no problems. Well - perhaps only one problem - and that is being choosy about men. When I was at school I got teased for being different and was called 'ginger bonse' and spotty by the boys - boys will be boys at that age - I was a bit of an ugly duckling. When I was your age, I was so self-conscious about having freckles on my legs I covered them up all the time so they faded - then one day in the sun and they were back (and I burned like crazy!).

But oh boy - when I was 21 - suddenly guys were drooling about the fact they could see I had freckly knees, and raving about my gorgeous long red hair (guys like long hair a lot by the way - generally). So as I say - the only real problem is - sussing out the wheat from the chaff. A lot of guys will fancy you but not be genuine about really liking you or being serious about you for who you are.

A lot of guys fantasise about redheads (because the myth is not a myth - it is a genetic fact - that redheads are 'hotter' - ie more passionate) - and yes we do have a tendency to be a bit fiery - but they seem to like that too, because it just shows how passionate you can be. You are still in your teens - you have plenty of time to find someone. In the meantime - be confident - about yourself. Be yourself, do what you like doing and what you are good at and be happy - because confidence and a big smile are the most attractive things on the planet :-)

DoubleM agony auntHas always turned me on darling. In my youth, being just a little bit "different" was always considered preferable - Who wants to be like everybody else? And really, redheads are a great turn-on because they are a little less prevalent, as well as extremely passionate, in my experience.
