I'm a teenage girl who is (i'll be honest!) not very attractive! But i know i'd be much happier with the way i look if i could just lose the weight on my stomach. I'm 5"4 ish and I weigh about 10 stone. I'm not that overweight on the rest of my body but my stomach is really fat! I feel so ugly sometimes and i don't have the will power to exercise or eat healthier. I would really like to have a flat stomach for summer so i can wear bikinis like my friends. My sister and mum are always making snide remarks about my weight! I need to do something! Please help!

rammsteinfan agony auntYou can get a flat tummy by doing stomach crunches..do as many as you can and stop when you can do no more. Do this every day, either in the morning or the night. You should take a picture of yourself before starting.....then take a picture of yourself after to compare! You will see the results!

Good Luck!!!

lena agony auntyour really not that over weight. if you don't want to do much exercise you don't have to, to loose weight. if you can walk to school (thats if you don't) and just cut down on portion sizes. cut out chocolate and crisps and drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. don't eat after 7 o'clock every night and eat little and often. if you crave chocolate have a banana. if you have sugar in tea then use sweetners. all these things will help you loose weight. sit ups are also good. if you exercise be prepared to put on a little weight before you start loosing it because the muscle it building up. you will then loose the fat and start loosing weight.

good luck xxxx

A male reader, Bourne +, writes (19 December 2006):

Bourne agony auntFirst off, don't make your happiness depend on what others think about you or the size and shape of your body. You need to be happy that your you. Love who you are and your body. Its the one that God gave you and be thankful for that.

Second, for your tummy reduce intake of carbohydrates (rice, pasta, potatoes, soda, and sugars). Drink lots of water and change your diet to eat more protein and veggies. Even a moderate exercise can really help. Just jogging or walking for 30 minutes 3 times a week. You can also do sit-ups in the privacy of your own room every night. That will build muscles around your stomach.

Try reading the book "South Beach Diet". The doctor who developed that program talks about how to reduce "belly fat."

Honey, don't fret too much over your weight, but the statement I don't have the will power to excercise or eat healthier will mean that you will fail at your goal of having a flatter stomach.

Kids today are way to inactive and with the convenience of fast foods and prepared foods and restaraunt style food and portions, obesity is a huge problem with young ones especially in the US and it is very unhealthy as it will lead to all kinds of health problems as you age.

Manage what you eat, eat sensible portions no bigger than your fist at one meal for instance...Eliminate all foods that have high fructose corn sugar in the ingredients as this inhibits a naturally occurring hormone that signals your brain that you are full. Avoid all white foods (white bread, pasta, sugar) and replace them with high fiber whole grain pastas and breads, brown rice....eat as many veggies as you want to stay full, fruit over juice, and start moving, whether it be walking, runnng, tennis, riding a bike, swimming....

Stop eating fast food, it is a killer, all of it is bad except the salads with low fat dressings. No more french fries.

There is no way to spot reduce your stomach if you are carrying a few extra pounds...you have to excercise and diet....Put a picture up on your fridge of the bikini you want to get into by summer.

But you can firm the muscles by lying on your back, knees up, hands at sides and doing small crunch type sit ups, do not come all the way up to your knees, keep your back flat on the floor. Keeping your back flat on the floor, legs straight out on your back, raise and lower your legs keeping them straight until you reach the point where your back starts to come up off of the floor stop.

A female reader, hiddenspace United Kingdom +, writes (19 December 2006):

hiddenspace agony auntI have a lack of will power too, but when I think of eating chocolate, or watching TV instead of going out for a quick run or doing an excersise DVD, i think of over weight people, or of myself when I'm feeling fat, then picture my self with a gorgeous body, and I think this motivates me to do something more.

However, don't take things to quicky. I'd recommend cutting out chocolate and sweets one week, and doing about 15 minutes of cardiovascular work out (running, swimming, going for a bike ride) per week. Then the next week, cut out another thing that's bad for you, or substitute it for something that's healthier, so if you like Coke, try substituting it for Diet Coke, and do an extra 5 minutes excersise.

Every week you cut out something else that's bad for you, until you're used to you're new healthy lifestyle, DON'T STOP EATING OR SKIP MEALS!!! Make sure you get 5 fruits a day, and every week add an extra 5 minutes on to your excersise regime, and maybe do it a couple of times a week, making sure that you sweat or get out of breath when you excersise.

You say that only your stomach is fat, but don't just spot-train, by that I mean work only one part of your body, as if you excersise vigourously, and maintain a healthy diet, the whole of your body will get into shape.

I used to spot-train, and after about 3 months and I'd got the stomach I wanted, I wanted more toned thighs, and I wished that I'd worked my whole body all together, rather than just one part at a time.

Good luck honey, and good plan starting now, where you have a few months before summer!

Again, good luck and message me if you need anymore help.

Or if you've got myspace.. add me as a friend www.myspace.com/x__ivoryprincess
