A male United Kingdom age 16-17, ishawan writes:

At my age (16) its more about flings than being serious, but what are tell tale signs girls like you? There was a girl recently, who fancied me for many months, was always around me and the like, but being the silly experienced lad I was then I missed the signs, and when I did start to like her, she was off giving the eye to some other guy... I know its the done thing for the guy to say their feelings before the girl does, but this whole situation really pissed me off and I dont want another beauty slipping through the net again. Are there certain signs girls consciously or unconciously give off, like dead giveaways almost? Ive been scared of rejection a few times, so these little confidence boosters would do me the world of good. Thanks for reading.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (16 May 2008):

I am a girl and I know that when the guy I like walks by, I unconsciously stop whatever I'm doing and try not to look at him, and I think he notices, I don't know if a lot of girls do that but that's the dead giveaway for ME.

Well i like to make a lot of body contact with the person i fancy...

And if you two are friends and you hug, try putting your hands round her waist if she puts hers round your neck/shoulders.

I'm sure she will like it =)

hope i've helped a tad!

nicole5178 agony auntGiggling.

Sstaring.

Inviting you to study with her.

Asking you for help before asking someone who's more knowledgable.

Laughing at your jokes that aren't funny.

Going to you when she's upset (even if she makes no attempt at conversation.)

Forgiving you for things that you shouldn't be forgiven for.

Hesitating before talking to you.

Twisting her hair nervously when she's around you.

Being jumpy around you.

Staring wide-eyed at you if you touch her.

Being made-up (hair done, make up on) whenever you two usually run into each other.

...etcetera...

A female reader, mightyhawk United Kingdom + , writes (22 March 2008):

mightyhawk agony auntTypical ones involve flirting, which sometimes you may not notice becuase you are the recipiet, but ask yuor mates and they will be more likely to notice. Another is when you are out, and she is out too, she will just 'happen' to keep apearing, which yo might not notice, but as a girl myself (im 17, not 40 something as it says) when I like someone I will tend to make sure I can not always, but see them alot of the time, and make sure the guy can see me. Another one is alot of hair fiddling and giggling, but that may just be the girl themselves. At the end of the day, it depends on the girl, but enough signals and you should pick it up don't worry. If not, ask your mates. Hope I have helped. x
