 Hey its not about how much you spend, its the thought that counts. Maybe try a bottle of his favourite aftershave. Does he have any sports or hobbies, then maybe get him something associated with this. Other than that, tops, hats, jumpers, music cds, dvds.
What ever you choose, no matter how much you spend im sure he will love it.
