A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Ok so over the summer I switched into public school from a private one. There was this one girl who is known for being really rude and catty. I had one class with her but really didn't know her that well. Anyway, in gym we had to do the dance unit. The girls grouped up on there own and so did the boys and then the teachers put the two groups together. The boys in our group weren't that bad but wouldn't listen and kept going to other groups even when we needed them. One of the boys was the catty girl's boyfriend. I didn't know it was her boyfriend. He was also the only one that didn't go off. One day, when we were trying to get the boys to listen and they went off again, he was the only one there. i said something along the lines of "OMG I freakin' love you you"re the only one that listens!!" Now I say "I freakin' love you" to EVERYONE. And I do not have any feelings for this boy whatsoever. All my friends were there when I said it and since I say it all the time they just laughed.

Now before this the catty girl just ignored me. I was fine with it. After that I got these really cold vibes from her. Like I knew she did not like me. Occasionally I got this "I hate you. b*tch" look from her.

I've never had a boyfriend, but was what I said really that bad? I'm kid of nervous because I'm going into high school and I doubt I'll see her again (its a very big school) but I feel like if I do see her my year is going to be miserable. She is one of the meanest girls I've ever met and I've seen how she acts towards certain people. Was it really that bad?

angelDlite agony auntno it wasn't bad coz you meant it in a friendly way but if this girl is a bitch then what you did gives her a reason to be horrible. she has probably got plenty of other feuds to keep her busy, so what you said may be soon forgotten when she finds someone else to hate.

in future though, try not to say things like this to girls boyfriends, it is a little TOO friendly and could cause some girlfriends to get upset and jealous if they read too much into your jokey comments
