A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Hi all

I attended an interview for executive assistant on Monday which went really well.

I was told a member of the panel was on leave straight afterwards until Friday so I would hear back then.

It's now Monday and I haven't heard anything. Would you say it's too early to call? Or can I safely assume I didnt get it?

I would appreciate any comments or advice you can give me!

Thank you in advance

Honeypie agony auntKeep trying, maybe the next one will treat applicants and employees better :)

And it's REALLY piss poor attitude for a company to NOT notify EVERY applicant they SEE in person. It doesn't take long to write a letter and mail it.

Youcannotbeserious agony auntHow rude. I would think twice about even wanting to work for a company who don't have the courtesy to even write to people who have made the time to attend interviews. Rude, inconsiderate and shows how you would be treated as an employee.

You deserve better.

Thanks so much for your answers.

I caved and called just now and wasn't successful on this occasion. She said they don't tend to notify unsuccessful candidates!! How bizarre.

Fingers crossed for the next one!

Honeypie agony auntI would call. If it's been a week, and they kind of said you would hear back by Friday (of last week) it's totally fine to call.

It shows you are interested.

So, yes, call.

Youcannotbeserious agony auntI don't think there is any harm in calling and just asking if there is any news. It shows you are enthusiastic. In my experience, these things always take longer than planned.

Good luck. I hope the news is good.

A male reader, wise.beyond.my.years Canada +, writes (20 November 2018):

If they told you they would call by Friday and they haven't, I would definitely call. The guy they said was away probably came back today, maybe had to catch up on a weeks worth of missed work, and possibly just didn't get around to it.

Calling will only show that you are very interested in working there and that you are assertive enough to get answers- this can only work in your favour. I would call first thing in the morning. If others were also applying, you need to beat them to it.
