writes:My boyfriend and I have been going out together for 5 months, but it feels like a lot longer, we fell for each other pretty much straight away, the trouble is he suffers from bouts of depression, so we have been through quite a bit together, I broke it off once, and realised it was a mistake then he broke it off a week after and begged for me back and proposed on the same night, we talked about things for some time realised we love each other so much and it's just been teething problems, so i accepted the proposal. Most people are happy for me but my mam, sister and 1 friend think i am very stupid (some nasty remarks have been made) for taking him back never mind agreeing to marry him, they dont understand that he makes me happy and i make him happy, its not as if were gonna run away and get married right now (we agreed 2 yrs), so why does it bother them? Were hurting no-one in doing this, so why are they coming down on us so hard? I think they want to put doubts in my mind, but were determined to not let them spoil this for me! Reply to this Question

geordiegirl22 is verified as being by the original poster of the question The main reason they dont like him is because he upset me when we split, but we were both being silly, and to be honest i shudnt hav let it upset me cos i new we wud get back together.I dont think it helps that he was a bad lad when he was younger and the company he keeps now and then, but that was years ago hes different now.Thank you for replying noone is gonna spoil this for me if anything its making me more determined to get married quicker.x

 Why is it that your Mum, Sister & friend are so against you marrying him?. Apart from him having bouts of depression has he done something to make them not like him?.
The bottom line is he makes you happy, you make him happy and that is really all that matters. You have got a good thing going, stick to you guns and don't let anyone spoil it for you.
