 Yes this is perfectly normal. If his fingers were quite dry this could be one explanation and because this is your first time this is probably the other. The friction caused by fingers or a penis when it goes inside a vagina can sometimes be painful if it is not "wet" enough. This is completely normal so don't worry. It will fade after time!
