 well is she known to be attracted to females?, she may just be being friendly and likes your company. considering you are close by the sounds of it maybe try asking a question like what kind of woman/men do you like to date? what is good looking to you? that way she may respond to oh you are good looking or oh a man attracts me he has to look like this or a woman has to look like this that way theres your answer she may not be intrested.
