aunt honesty agony auntCould you not ask him has he a girlfriend? If you know him well enough to be jumping in to his car, surely you know him well enough to ask. Or are you afraid that he might say yes?

Honeypie agony auntI think he likes that you DO NOT know whether he has a G or not.

He could EASILY have said,:"OH she doesn't like that" or " I don't have a GF so that is all good".

He didn't. Maybe he just doesn't WANT you to know.

If you want a STRAIGHT answer ASK a straight question. The man can't read your mind.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (15 June 2017):

I think when you ask or mention "girlfriends" in an imaginary situation like this one, and you and he have never talked about if either of you have one...then it's easy to see through. He may know you have a crush on him. Beyond that, who knows. Don't bother speculating. Wait for something definitively. Otherwise let it go.

Why does he have to tell you he has a girlfriend? Does he know how you feel? You're looking into something that might and might not be anything.

Ask him if he has a girlfriend. If not, would he like one. Do it the very next time you see him!

Denizen agony auntThis is something out of nothing - really. Unless you have something more to add to your suspicions I wouldn't get worked up over something like this.

i don't know , it could be that he has a gf but has feelings for you , it could be he has a gf but would like a bit on the side with you , he on the other hand could be shy and not want to say he has not a gf and is intrested in you , often the best talkers are the shyest when it comes to asking out a girl
