Hi,

This might be a bit silly, but I need some advice.

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and a half, and everything is AMAZING...

He's sweet, kind, caring and everything is great.

We broke up once unexpectedly, because he was scared of commitment but got back together a week later. A lot has changed since then and I couldn't be happier.

Im writing because he is so amazing, and it worried me if I ever lost him I couldn't find anyone nearly as amazing.

I have no reason to be worrying about this but I can't help it.

Can anyone offer any advice to how I can stop these thoughts?

Thankyou

Consider this, if this is guy is as amazing as you describe and he's with you, then what does that make you? Yep it makes you pretty amazing too.

It's hard not to worry when things are so good, but you can't live in expectation of bads things, that's a horrible way to live and how can you enjoy something properly when you're expecting it to fall apart?

Your head is stuck in a future that might never happen, it's a bit illogical.

I mean do you worry about the possibility that the sun could explode tomorrow destroying our planet and everything on it? No? Why not? That's right because it's unlikely to happen, there's nothing we can do about it in the present and worrying sours otherwise good things.

My advice, save up all your worrying for your kids, believe me you'll need it for worrying about them ;)

Have you heard the saying

Yesterday is history

Tomorrow is a mystery

And today is a gift.

You have to learn to stop worry about what if... we don't know what the future holds and if we spend all our time worry about it then you won't enjoy the here and now.
