Dear Cupid,

There's a boy I like and he likes me. I found out he's going to ask me to go steady with him but I'm not sure he actually fancies me because he always chats to my friend on text and on msn but not at school. Does he fancy me or my friend? I'm really confused! Help! Thank you! fi xxx

A reader, NordicBeauty +, writes (8 July 2005):

Sometimes guys chat with our friends as a way to get us know better, figure out if we want to be with them.

Males fear rejection just as much as females, so this might be his way of getting closer to you, by asking your friend questions about you.

I advise you chat with your friend and ask her about their conversations...see if the main topic of discussion is YOU.

If they talk about you all the time, then don't worry.

But if he is attracted to her and you at the same time, then he needs to make a choice...and YOU need to make a choice.

Could you handle him dating your friend?

I'm sure you have thought about that.

Be brave & upfront...grab the bull by the horns & find out the truth, so you can have peace of mind,

All the best,
