Stretch marks make me very self-conscious

I got LOTS of strech marks (arms/legs/back) when i was 14 years old. I wasn't thin but wouldn't call myself fat. I think it was perhaps growing too fast and maybe not realising i was putting on a little too much weight. The thing is, for all my actual adult life i am going to be scarred. I can't do a damn about them. They really knock my confidence and i feel such shame. Can anyone recommend anything to help? Are there guys that would see past my ugly skin? I don't want to be lonely forever but i fear my self esteem may seal my fate that way.

I know how you feel. I started to get stretch marks whilst going through puberty and I hated them. However as time passed, they went from being an obvious purple colour to a normal scar colour which us must less noticeable.

When I told my boyfriend how much I hated then, he likened them to tiger stripes and commented how thescars almost shimmered. Ever since then I've been proud of my stretch marks, they make my skin unique and something more interesting to look at.

Unfortunately it's just one of those things that you can't help so I believe by thinking of your stretch marks in a different light, it will help you accept them and not be embarrassed to show them.

MsSadie agony auntI have stretch marks because I used to be quite heavy.

Are your stretch marks still red? If so there's more that you can do about them. I recommend cocoa butter and lotions with collagen because both tighten the skin. I put cocoa butter on red stretch marks that were on my hips daily, and they faded quite noticeably after about two months. I put a collagen serum (meant for the face and $58/bottle at Sephora) on my breasts as I lost weight because I noticed they were also getting stretch marks and wrinkling slightly, and the serum stopped both issues from getting any worse.

If the stretch marks are white, then they're unfortunately set for life.

Intrigued3000 agony auntI got stretch marks as a teenager too. I used to stress about it and rub pure cocoa butter on it, but nothing seemed to work, except time...yep! Mine faded with time. They don't stay on your skin forever, unless new ones pop up. I also read somewhere that tanning your skin will help to hide them. I've tried it and it does. I go somewhere tropical at least once a year, and a combination of the sunshine and salt water of the ocean always does my skin good. I also drink a lot of water and take vitamin supplements to improve my skin tone.

Nobody's perfect. Love your body. Love your skin, stretch marks and all. When you feel beautiful, you are beautiful.

Hi,

I have a similar problem. What i do is that I purchased a foundation cream for face for a tan color skin and i use it on my legs anytime I wear skirts. It makes my legs look amazingly sexy. Try it! But before wearing your skirt, you need to wait a few mins for the cream to be dry so not to make any stains on your clothing. If you want you can put some oily cream on top of that as well to amke it look shiny or smoother ;) good luck and enjoy the summer with the sexiest legs...

Xx-Scorpio-xX agony auntI know how you feel~ I've got loads of stretch marks on my stomach and I have no kids! (I'm 20) I also have some on the tops of my arms and my breasts, but I don't really remember when I got them, maybe when I was about 16. But I've had a couple of long term serious boyfriends and they haven't cared about them, and never really noticed them either. I think we as girls see them worse than they actually are.

I've heard bio-oil can reduce them a bit, but sadly nothing is ever going to remove them permanently :( I'm trying to loose a bit of weight right now (just a couple of stone to be at an ideal weight for my height) and i'm planning on getting tattoos over them if I get a flat stomach :D
