Cateyes agony auntCongratulations Andrew!!

I don't know how you do it, but I for one am so glad you do. I know there are so many others who appreciate all that you do and especially your time. Like many others, I came here myself seeking answers...and, because of all the wonderful aunts and uncles who give you different ways to view situations yet speak maybe from their own personal experience, I stayed and became one myself. We all have had our fair share of "something". Being said, I can't wait for you to make the 500,000 mark....and something tells me you will soon.

Thanks again and God Bless!

A male reader, SamuraiRick United States +, writes (14 February 2008):

SamuraiRick agony auntIt is my pleasure and privilege to be a part of this terrific site. I stop in here most every time I log onto the net and it never gets boring. Many congratulations for a site that invites all to participate and does a lot of good helping people out there. I started out here when I was looking for answers myself...now I made some good friends with people who look to me for answers, which is very cool. I think everyone can help anyone if they happen to have the experiences that can be referenced and can benefit others.

I also think by and large the modern world lacks true wisdom...but when I come here I am comforted to know that there still exists common sense wisdom from the common man and woman...not just the so-called experts. It gives me hope for humanity... The Dr Phils and Dr Lauras have a lot of competition with the many aunts and uncles that populate this site.

Of course there are the occasional aunts who don't know what the hell they are talking about...and they are fun to laugh at too. But as a whole I am always impressed with the varied, informative and entertaining voices here.

I consider myself one of the most politically incorrect uncles on this site and proud of it. I’m not here to score points but to give my best and honest opinion. I can’t be right all the time, and I don’t expect to be right all the time. But from me you will always get the honest truth as I uniquely see it. And I hope every aunt is not here to be loved by everyone. You can’t be loved by everyone if you speak the truth…in fact many will hate you for speaking the truth. That’s my kernel of wisdom for now. I hope this site continues on for many years to come. 400, 000 is simply a good start.

Peace Out!

I think both posters and responders are learning whilst on line on this site. It's good to see the various responses and get some insight/food for thought. Posters will ultimately do what they feel is right for them but it's so great for people to have a sounding board opportunity like this. Keep on going.

A male reader, Dazzerg United Kingdom +, writes (13 February 2008):

Dazzerg agony auntExcellent news!!! I think the site has gone from strength to strength certainly since I have been here which has been a fair old while now :$...(succeeds in making himself appear old)....it also shows what potential the site has...think there is a potential of the expansion of the articles and forums in particular to expand further into covering more aspects of general culture (movies, tv, all that kinda thing) to give the site a lifestlye edge...

was happily answering questions wondering about blogs maybe as well...or the option for journals so again those visitors are solidified into a community base...and they would provide good opportunities for follow ups....

also a spell check for when posting might be cool...just a few thoughts :)

A female reader, anonymous, writes (13 February 2008):

I was pleasantly surprised when I found this site. I expected it to be like many of the 'junk' sites that there are around but when I actually spent time on it and read through a lot of the questions and answers I realised it was actually very good. I agree with the poster who expressed a concern about the age of some of the young people who ask for advice on here. It's really good that young people have this site but I guess we all just have to be really really careful about how we answer them and perhaps always recommend to them they seek professional guidance and help also ..? It's heartening to see though, when a young person does write in with a problem, how much effort everyone makes to pay attention to them and give them some support and advice. One example of this was the girl who was wanting a relationship with her teacher, so got so many answers and people responded quickly and so many people advised her against going out with her teacher etc etc which I thought was good.

Congradulations also Andrew, very well done. Been here for a wee while now and you can't help but notice the growth. Fantastic.

My two cents is really just a concern now on how young some of the posters are, some are very young and asking perhaps inappropriate advice, normally about sex. I can see this could be a problem if not monitored.

Just the age and content of the young ones is a worry to me, as a mother!!!

But well done all.

Congrats, Andrew,

Thanks for giving us this site, it has helped me in more ways than I can count.

I think for many it is much easier to see someone elses question/problem than it is to answer my own. I suppose that is why doctors/surgeons are not allowed to operate on their own family, just too close for comfort and it makes it hard to be objective and do the best thing.

Thanks so much for all of your hard work.

A female reader, AskEve United Kingdom +, writes (13 February 2008):

AskEve agony auntI'm not surprised it's continuing to improve. All the hard work you put in here Andrew and at no cost! It's a haven for young ones (and the not so young lol) to ask a questions free of charge and be given different points of view. Not every question asker likes what they hear but that's the beauty of the site, differing opinions.

Just a point though... I wish everyone would remember when they ask their questions about TEXT SPEAK!!! and word their questions in plain English and not in this horrible shortform. If this happens consistently throughout the question then the question is REJECTED! Just something to think about.

Keep up the good work Andrew (and the hard working team who volunteer their time helping out!)

A male reader, Ponungalungb United States +, writes (13 February 2008):

Ponungalungb agony auntGreat!

Someone mentioned that some questions go unanswered. I think it may depend on the time of day when people, like me, are in front of their computer. I know that a lot of people that use this site are from Europe, and the time zone difference puts their questions at a time when people in the U.S. may be in bed. If several questions get asked in a short period of time, the questions get moved off the board. It might help if a writer who posts a question that goes unanswered could "bump" it to the top. Also, lots of questions are redundant and if people could find prior messages easier, they could find the answer to their problem without writing a new question. But if your goal is to get more "hits", that might be counterproductive.

Just my 2 cents.

Ponung.

Andy00 agony auntThat's a big improvement, Andrew, Congratulations.

So, do you think the site has improved? I'll admit that the moderation idea has allowed questions and answers to be delivered much more quickly. The only thing I think hasn't improved in that is, there are a lot more questions that do not get answered now. And even the ones that do only receive a few answers, where before they would get maybe double that.

Just offering my two cents, because I assumed you would want to hear something that could later benefit the site. Congrats to you again, and very well done!
