I have never used one for this reason, but I read that some people do. Back in the dark ages they used to give them before the birth of a baby. It is basically a flushing out of the anus with water....pretty yucky from my perspective.

Honeypie agony auntCondoms are a good thing, use water based lube. Some people do the whole enema thing, but a hot bath and a good cleaning is really all that is needed. She however might feel better with the enema. Take your time getting her ready, don't just try and enter. You might want to consider smaller anal probes and gradually use thicker ones before full on anal. A glass of wine might also relax her.

DoubleM agony auntYes, I would. But I would not be proposing anal sex sex with any woman I care about, because of the eventual problems it will likely cause her, which includes hemorrhoids. Otherwise, the advice from "quiet-echo" is probably appropriate.

A reader, anonymous, writes (7 November 2009):

It's generally a good idea, but not 100% neccessary. A condom will make you a bit smoother and easier to slide in, but it's not manditory. It will also protect you from a urinary tract infection, but I've never used a condom for anal (only done it with my wife!) and never suffered from an infection.

As for cleanliness, a good diet, poop well before hand and a warm bath before for her should do the trick. I've never encountered poo, but if you do, make sure you have some "wet-wipes" handy, and a towel to gently wipe her down, as there's going to be alot of lube, and if your not wearing a condom some spunk...

...oh yes i did neglect to add that in addition she should try to be as 'empty' as possible and some women even do an enema....

A reader, anonymous, writes (7 November 2009):

ummm...If you wear a condom to protect against std's during vaginal sex then wear a condom for anal sex. Hun, you don't 'make sure it's clean in the a hole." The outside and the rim etc you wash carefully but inside???? nope
