This probably sounds like a silly question but should I sign my christmas card to my bf 'love from...' or leave the love part out? The thing is we have been together in a relationship for 7 months now and havent said "I love you", so im not sure whats appropiate here. Any advice?

Honeypie agony auntWhy not let the cat out of the bag?

And signing it "With love", or "Love from" is NOT the same as saying I LOVE YOU. You would put Love from to family and friend as well. It is just a sweet way of telling people you care for them.

No need to freak out.

Ask oldersister - Just to clarify, I wasnt going to say "I love you" in the card for the first time, I meant to sign it "love from", "with love" etc...so do you think this is ok?

HonningKanin - and yes I do love him, but am bit to afraid to say it.

HonningKanin agony auntWell if you do love him it could be a nice warm way to surpise him.

If you arent inlove yet, I would reccommend "with affection" or "yours truly." "Yours Sincerely" may be too formal. However one thing over all strikes me as an easy option. "xoxoxox (insert your name)" The hugs and kisses ending if you actually like that.

Personally, with love doesn't have to mean that you are in love with him. It can also mean you have great amounts of care, like a family memeber, towards that person. "Love" can just mean you like them enough to care about their well being. Its a pity English has such an all encompasing word for such an emotion. Spanish has 2 words for it. One is familiar and the other is romantic. "Yo te quiero" and "yo te amo." Both mean "I love you," but very clear representations of it.

I mean "with love" its harmless. You do have love for him. You do care about him. It's not like you're saying "MARRY ME." And just for further reference. If you feel that you do love him, just say it, even if he doesnt say it back. My best friend told me he loved me a few weeks ago. It was shocking, and I didn't know what to say, so i didn't say it back. But he was ok with it. I finally realized that I did love him. I was on my way home and I was supposed to see him when i got back. That night when i got home, he got in a car wreck and passed away. I never got to tell him i felt.

A male reader, Griffo Australia +, writes (10 December 2009):

Griffo agony auntWhy not? If you love him say it. Who cares it's love. Most people fo experience it. And if he freaks out what does they tell you? Do what your heart says everyone has the right to say I love you withought regret.

Think of it like this. We only live once right? What if that was the only chance you ever had to express those words to him. You, him, anybody could be hit by a bus tomorrow. So why not? Say I love you.

There ;)
