A male Philippines age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Hi everyone,

See, I've always wanted to ask this girl out on a date. She's super cute, very childish, top of class, and kinda athletic. I'm the hearthrob at our school but I've never had a girlfriend even once. It's rare that I have a crush. The problem is that when I ask her out she always say that "Boys are just distraction in school". I just want her to be my GF. It's very obvious that she also has a crush on me cause whenever I talk to her I can always see her blushing. She also gets grumpy when I talk to other girls.

So, what sould I do? Should I keep asking her out or just give up?

One more thing, whenever I see a girl acting childishly I always say "awwww, so cute" or somethin' like that. Is that a gay thing to say? Girls, I need your opinion.

Another thing (hehehe). How does guitar playing affect someone's charisma????

Hey, this is me, the one who asked the question. But I don't think she's playing hard to get. Because she's very sweet but shy. Yesterday, We bump into each other at the school and started roaming around the campus. Then, I've ask her why she's blushing everytime we talk. She said that "She's just shy and she thinks that it's awkward when we talk". So what should I do to break the awkwardness when we talk to each other? And also I'm not good with having conversations with girls. I always get tongue-tied.

to me it seems that she's just playing hard to get...but it wouldn't hurt to wait a year or two because you never know maybe she is focused on school. but one thing if for sure don't give up on her if you like her than you should be willing to wait until she is ready to date you. as for the the awww so cute as long as its sarcastic you're fine but don't say it so much that it becomes annoying, and btw no one will think your gay if your planning on asking a girl out. as for the guitar make sure you can sing because you won't go far on the guitar without a good voice.

Aunt Verruca agony auntPlaying guitar is definitely charismatic, it will definitely earn you "brownie points" with the girls and their Moms.

As for the girl in question she knows how you feel; it's time to step back and wait patiently from afar. Ease back on all of the direct attention you have been giving her; staying in her peripheral vision without being there. She may well enjoy the status of being wanted by someone like you. Take that away and see what happens.

Enjoy being a boy, whilst staying out of trouble of course.

I assume you get lot's of attention from other girls? So, ask yourself "why is this one so important?" Is it because she is refusing/playing hard to get? Make the most of what you do have and don't fret too much over the fact she has not said yes.

Patience comes to those who wait and not always as we expect it.

janniepeg agony auntIt depends on how many times she turned you down. Because you are a heartthrob she may want to test your endurance. She is not going to give it up so easy for you, so you maybe you could keep trying.

Boys can be a distraction but boys can also be a wonderful addition to your life and enhance everything good in your life. I bet she is not going to be single all the way through until she graduates college right? Relationships happen. I doubt anyone, with their hormones raging, would wait ten years to concentrate on studies. Love can be a distraction to career and also parenting. It's about how you juggle different activities and create a balance. Something you have to consider is that your parents might not let you date. There is a 20 year old girl I know whose mother tells her not to date and she gladly listens to her advice. In that case there is nothing you could do.

I don't think "awwww, so cute" is a gay thing. Because you are so young, it's fine. You shouldn't be too sexual at your age.

Guitar playing makes you a sensual person, able to feel and relate to a woman's emotions. When you become too much of a male, like your hobbies are beer, watching sports game and playing video games, it makes a woman feel she is just a vase and she has no importance to a man's life.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (8 June 2012):

Guitar playing is definitely good for added attraction. Take a step back from the asking and be in the vicinity and available. Do not be in the vicinity and talking to other girls; this only gives mixed signals. She knows you like her, let her come to you. I am presuming you get lots of attention from other girls; ask your self why you keep wanting this one? Is it because she repeatedly refuses? Be a boy. Enjoy life with the other boys, staying out of trouble of course. Patience comes to those who wait. This girl may not be the one. If you wish to wait then do so silently, restrict the attention you give in her direction.
