I have been reading posts on this site about cheating and one of the answers said about getting tested for aids.

My husband cheated on me between 1992 up until February 2008 with different women(3) I never thought of getting tested but it's got me worried now, surely I will have some symptons?

How long before you notice anything could be wrong?

Fairy_Lu agony auntI would go get tested for everthing HIV and clamydia have no symptoms at all and HIV is deadly and clamydia makes you sterile.

You should both go and get tested it would keep your mind at rest and it does not take long at all, and you can get the results by txt call or post.

Just get tested. My fiance cheated on me with different numerous loose women, and I heard he never used protection with them, like he did with me. This tormented me for years, thought about my health daily, and I was so paranoid. I eventually got tested, and that was the best thing I did. For me, it was negative and I was so relieved. It's good to know. Do it for you.

Ginalolabridga agony auntI would get tested for everything i got all this down inc 2 HIV tests which involves taking blood from you, the other tests are swabs and urine samples, many std's are like having a urine infection some you dont realise you have them so it is always best to go and get peace of mind, most of the places you get tested you can remain anonymous for the HIV test they just ask for your mobile number and thats all so dont worry about having to go to you GP you can go get this all done at your local health clinic.

Take him along with you and let him get tested too, it also lets him see what he has put you through at this age, i sympathise with you cause i had to sit in a clinic full of youngsters aged 50!

Best of luck.

A female reader, k_c100 United Kingdom + , writes (18 March 2009):

k_c100 agony auntWell you could have gotten a variety of STI's from your husband, including aids. Some STI's have symptoms, others dont. The best thing for you to do is try not to worry yourself about this, but go to your doctors as soon as you can. If you cannot get an appointment at the doctors then there are walk-in clinics at many of the larger hospitals, you can check online or give your local hospital a ring to find out when they offer this service.

When you are there, they will ask of you have any symptoms (in your case I am assuming the answer is no) and then they will ask if you want a full test or just a specific test. because you could have any number of STI's you need to get the full test done. The results will come back to you within 2 to 3 weeks, and for an aids/HIV test the results take 2-3 months.

I hope this helps and make sure you get tested ASAP!
