Hi there I don't know if anyone can help me but I need some advice.

About a year ago I was at my dream job, I was there for about 6 months. I had to leave because my contract only allowed for 6 months but I made good friends and produced some good work. So heres the problem, a job at my old work come up about a month ago,and I applied for the role and heard nothing. This week I asked my old boss for a reference and OF COURSE I received an rejection letter the day after I sent the email.

I have not yet heard back from my old boss;( who I greatly respect) how do I now say I was not picked and I don't know if I need the reference? now that I have been rejected.

I feel really bad after the rejection as I really did love my old job, and feel maybe I should not have asked for a reference in the first place as I left it way to late anyway and I don't know how to approach the situation as im so embarrassed to say 'oh hi so that email I sent you, don't bother I was rejected' you know.

Any advice would be amazing, thanks.

Honeypie agony auntHe could send YOU a paper version of the recommendation for later use, I mean YOU might need it for another job?

Was he supposed to send the company you were applying to the recommendation or to you? IF the first... contact him and tell him that the job you applied for fell though, so no worries about the recommendation.

If he was to send it to you, let him write one and send you. They are good to have.
