Hi.

I'm 13 and I'm on my third period. The first two were relatively light and I could use the Always pads with the three or four absorbency drop thingys. But now, on my third, it's been sooooo heavy and the Always pads with the four drops get full up in around two hours, whereas before, they wouldn't even be completely full in four hours. Plus, my previous cycle was 35 days (a long time I know) and this time it was around 28.

Please Help!!!

Is any of this normal???

Thank you

H xxx

So_Very_Confused agony auntyep you are perfectly normal. all of it is normal. heavy vs light flow, 28 vs 35 days... normal normal normal!

to be honest my periods did not get regular till after my children were born and I was done nursing them I started my periods at 11 btw... so i was nearly 30 before they got regular...

It's hard never knowing what you should expect or when you should expect it. I think that's why girls carry purses... to hold our supplies... cause we always need to carry them...

CindyCares agony aunt Yes, it will take you a year or two to start seeing your periods stabilized on a more or less consistent pattern as for duration and flow heavyness. Before that they may be sort of random.

adamantine agony auntI'm 20 years old now and got my period just before I turned 13, and it took me about 2 years until my periods became regular, as in every 28 days. I still get times where its heavier than others, and I attribute that to my dietary changes.

If you are worried about leakage, see if you can get super absorbency, or you might want to try tampons as well if it becomes annoying. I like tampons personally because sometimes I even forget I'm on it (that is until it needs to be changed).

Period irregularity is completely normal.

What you have to do though is what for the hints that you may start ur period soon once you have found that its easier to manage but not everyone hints are the same my sister for examples has wierd hints she gets extremely gassy it pretty funny i get mood swings another sister gets a headache as soon as one of us notices the hints we starting wearing pads that day just in case.

Later on though you should talk to your mom and doctor about getting on the pill though it is meant to prevent pregnancies it help regulate your period thats what yet a third sister of mine did (yes i have many 6 actually not including me and 4 brothers) and it helped her alot.

I really hope i helped u :)

Claraw1 agony auntyou have only just started your periods a couple of months ago, that isn't very long, so they will be irregular, your body is still adjusting to the recent changes, as you continue throughout your life until you reach menopause, your period will sometimes be average, sometimes heavy and sometimes lighter. You have nothing to worry about so far. If you are worried I suggest you talk to your mum about it, and she might take you to a doctor to put your mind at ease. Good luck with it.
