My mood swings drag up the past, please tell me why?

Question - (18 October 2007) 3 Answers - (Newest, 19 October 2007)
A male , anonymous writes:

I've noticed a strange pattern in my moods recently and it has been like this for pretty much the past year.

Randomly I will be on a high for about a week or two and be really happy but then I will suddenly sink down and feel low and sad and slightly depressed for no reason at all. When I feel like this I randomly think to the past and remember things I haven't thought about for a while like things that happened at school and other stuff. Its like my mind is digging stuff from the past but It's really strange and I don't know why my mind is doing this. I know in a few wdays I'll be fine and happy but then again I won't.

So strange...

Can anyone help?

Blue_Angel0316 agony auntI srongly agree with RCN and yes it sounds like it might be Bi-Polar disorder or manic depression as it's sometimes commonly termed. Being high is the hyper part or mania of the manic phase of this condition. The depression is the depressive phase. Depression can be caused by many problems in your lifetime that can often be kept in your subconcious mind to be broght back into play when something triggers the memory or memories. Seek professional advice and you need to keep in mind that if you have this it isn't your fault. Some people just have a short circut in the wiring so to speak in the brain and the brain chemical to fluctuate causing this condition to be worsened. I hope you will get the help you need and God bless you.

rcn agony auntI would go to a psychologist and get an actual diagnosis. It sounds as if you're experiencing the affects of Bi-Polar disorder.
