 Everything could possibly be complete lies, but it could be true. It comes down to, do you trust your friend? She could be trying to get him for herself, but don't react, unless you know the truth. Talk to her, ask her about it, see if you hear those rumors from anyone else that knows him, or knows of him.

 hi, age has nothing to do with it, i was with my ex partner for 7yrs and there was an age diffrence of 13years, and our breck up had nothing to do with our age differance and i am 6 years older than my new partner and we been together nearly a years and are very happy together..
as for your friend, just ignore her if she is a true friend she will still be there if u do get with him.
