My girlfriend thinks I'm unreliable!

Question - (16 July 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 16 July 2010)
A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I've been with my girlfriend for over a year now.

Lately, I haven't been able to do stuff with her like hang out, because of my parents.

I ask them and beg them to let me hang out with her.

My girlfriend doesn't believe me, and says I'm the most unreliable guy she's ever dated.

How can I prove to her that I'm trying to make this all work?

A female reader, MetalheadMiss United Kingdom +, writes (16 July 2010):

..Do your parents think badly of your relationship?

I'm sorry, but if she doesn't believe you, you're wasting your time. She should be trying to help you resolve the situation, not complaining about how it's your fault. She sounds like she has a lack of trust in you, have you done anything in the past to deserve that?

But if you have your heart set on staying together, which you obviously do, then make sure you put in effort elsewhere, if you can... Call her, text her, make the time you spend together worth it. If she really loves you, and wants to stay together too, then she'll recognise your efforts and cherish the time you spend together.
