My foreskin doesn't retract. How do I correct this?

A male , GodofGraphics writes:

Alright, I am an 18 year old male, living in the UK.

Growing up I lost my virginity with my grilfriend when I was 15, and have had various sexual partners since then.

When I lost my virginity, my slightly more experienced girlfriend mentioned that my penis was 'different' to someone else's but I didnt make a big deal about it.

Other partners have mentioned this too. What I have been told is my foreskin doesnt retract when I get an erection. This hasn't affected sex in any way, but I dont like not being 'normal'.

Is there anything I can do to resolve the situation without circumsision, because I have tried to retract my foreskin, but it hurts, and I don't want to damage anything important...

Thanks

A male reader, anonymous, writes (23 May 2008):

i'm 15 and also cannot, but our sex ed teacher told us to try and pull it back in the bath.

also he said that if it was stuack behind the glands, just to wait until the erection was lost.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (21 May 2008):

HEY,

Just thought i'd say that i've got the foreskin attached to my bell end, and the name is Frenulum breve if you wanna look it up. It affects about 5% of non-circumsized men and 3% of women (i was joking about the women, they generally lack penises for Frenulum breve).

Your Frenulum is the bit of skin that all men have between their foreskin and bell end, but generally it's long enough to sit lightly and invisible against your penis.

The only real problem is that it's a bit short and can be uncomfortable. You can look it up yourself, you can just google it and it comes up with everything you need.

Hope i was of some help.

If it's painful during sex, see a doc. Otherwise who cares? If a woman is already naked with you she won't care unless it's all inflamed or something. Don't be embarassed, everyone is nervous about themselves.

hey im 15 and have the same problem, i once however did manage to pull my foreskin all the way back, it was very painful and the glans have very tender and painful to touch when exposed. Getting the foreskin back was also extremely difficult and painful. i recommend not to pull until it comes all the way back. Is there anyone who has experienced what i have as i have yet to come across someone who has, as in someone who has managed to pull it back one (painfully) and discovered what i did... if there is please help!!

A male reader, anonymous, writes (1 August 2007):

yeah I got this too. Im 19 and I never really knew if it was different or not untill I just googled all this stuff tonight. It looks like I have phimosis? also like chris "there is a small peice of skin connected to the foreskin, and the head of my penis disallowing the foreskin to move down." I guess GP is my next stop...

A male reader, anonymous, writes (10 July 2007):

I'm 17 years old about 3 years ago I had problems retracting my foreskin as well, I could never get it to go over the wider part of the head. So I read up about it on the internet and the site said to lightly tug on the foreskin when your cock is soft, and when the foreskin isn't retracted at all. Doing this for about 4 or 5 months fixed my problem and now I can pull my foreskin down past the head. Hope this helps.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (21 June 2007):

The condition is known as PHIMOSIS. Don't worry it's not serious and quite common. Gradual stretching in the bath, as described may solve the problem, if not your doctor can prescribe a steroid cream which will help with the stretching. The condition will improve in time, but consult your doctor anyway.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (10 April 2007):

when your in the bath slowly pull the foreskin back until you see your bell end. i reccommend that you dont pull back behind the bell end glans (also known as bellendiglanomiuos), just before the glans and keep it in that position. This will stretch the skin and if this is done everytime you have a bath (in my case once a month, due to unclean water) your skin should then be loose like a 90 year old ladys tricep (also known as bingo wings). hope this helps.

this is not a medical condition because you have tight skin around the penis.

As a teen I had the same problem. My doctor told me to tug back each time I pissed and to tug back in the bath and wash under the skin. He also told me when I jackof leave the cum under my foreskin bundle and wash it of in the morning it contain a natural substance that help in breaking the attachments. In 5 or 6 months I could skin it all the way back and when I shot it was across the tub and my girl friend stated she loved to feel it when we fucked.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (22 February 2006):

Hey bud,

I have the exact same problem. I am turning 18 next april and i have noticed that my foreskin doesn't pull back either. However, I have discovered that there is a small peice of skin connected to the foreskin, and the head of my penis disallowing the foreskin to move down.

I was wondering if this was the same as you?

When I read your message I was quite pleased to find that im not the only one, but then after reading the replies, and i quote "you have a medial condition and should see your GP immediatly" i started to get a bit worried.

However then globalchill came in and said that you should leave it if intercourse is alright....now im completely lost with what to do.

smeedle agony auntYou have a medical condition and need to go see your GP, you must not delay in getting this seen to as it can and will cause you problems in later life.

Do not worry about circumsision as there maybe no need for this, but if you do have to have it, dont worry you will not loose any of the sensation you get during sex and it may enhance it, im sure there are a lot of male agony aunts who will advise you more but I really cannot labour the point about going to your GP.

A male reader, Globalchill +, writes (18 February 2006):

You didnt mention how far it retracts, if any. When I was younger mine didnt go all the way back, I couldnt get it over the widest part of the glans.

I really didnt want to get circumcised but was concerned with the hygiene part ie build up of smegma, so I explored the internet for alternative treatments. I came across an anti-circumcision site which explained such techniques as gentle stretching of the foreskin. Along with some cream I got from the GP, it started to go further back, I would then go back as far as I could without it being sore and then hold it there for a minute or two.

After repeating this for a while I eventually got my foreskin completely back behind the glans. To be honest it scared me because I had never seen it like that and was worried about getting my foreskin to go back over the glans.

You have to be careful because if the foreskin gets stuck behind the glans then its a medical emergency, The glans swell up and go black with the chance of you losing your penis which is why the hospital will do an emergency circumcision when this happens. Its called paraphimosis, do a search in google and you can read about it.

In all honesty though if you are having no problems having sex and its just because girls are saying its weird, I wouldnt worry, just turn it into a joke and say to them its because your unique or one in a million! I had to do something with mine because it hurt having sex, but thankfully the stretching worked for me.

Its ok in the usa where most are circumcised and women think foreskins are weird, but its the opposite in the uk and I wanted to keep mine.

Hope that helps chief.
