writes:Hello, I have been dating my BF for 9 months now. We are spending Thanksgiving at his mom's with his family. We are staying for the whole weekend because it's his birthday too. I am not sure why but I feel as he has been distance. He doesn't kiss me or hug me as usual in front of his family. I am afraid to ask him or how to ask him. Perhaps is because we are staying at his parents and he is a little shy in front of them. But, he is not a shy person at all. Should I ask him or should I wait until we come back home? Am I overreacting?

Do his parents show any affection when in company? My guess is they don't and this is the example that he's long been given. Whatever the case, I am fairly certain that he is doing it to honor his parents and it has nothing to do with you. To answer your questions, yes, you are overreacting, and go ahead and ask him about this...communicating is the best thing you can do when something about your significant other is bothering you.

reader, anonymous, writes (28 November 2015): He's just embarrassed. I dont think I would want to hug and kiss somebody infront of my parents, it would be pretty awkward. My parents aren't very tactile, ive never seen them kiss, are his parents like that.
The fact that he invited you to his family home for thanksgiving shows he really cares and thinks a lot of you.
