I am sorry, dear. I made a typo on my answer to you. That should have read:

"if he doesn't believe you then the lack of trust and respect for you, will jeopardize your relationship."

Hope that makes better sense.

If you are the type of person who embellishes the truth and has a tendency to tell big stories and lies, that could be the reason. Or if you have lied to someone in your past and he was told of it, this too could be the cause. You need to sit down and talk to him and find out yourself. The 'truth will build trust' between people and if he doesn't believe you then the trust and the respect for you, will jeopardize your relationship. You have a right to know...just ask him.

A female reader, matron +, writes (20 May 2006):

matron agony auntHi,it's really hard to know what to say, i have no idea what it is that he does't believe but have you got any proof to back up what you are telling him? have you got any witnesses to prove you are telling the truth? have you ever lied to him before and so he's lost trust in you?

If you feel that you have told him the truth then let it drop, if he choses not to beleive you then thats his problem, if he cant move on in your relationship then get out. You cannot build a relationship without trust. Good luck
