writes:Well...... my friend smokes. Not a pack a day but every time she is depressed or she is in trouble she heads for the ciggarette. I don't know what to do. She doesn't understand that the only reason I'm nagging her is because I loe her as a friend and I don't want to see her throw her life away because of one little evil stick. She doesn't understand the harms of smoking at ALL. She thinks it's just a game to her. She thinks that just the one time won't make you hooked. We even had a lesson about the damages of smoking in our science class but she can't get it through her thick skull. I know that I can't make someone do something, the least I could do is advise and be there for her. Or what, should I just leae her F up her own life, I mean I told her so? She is friggin 14.I'm just so confused right now. Thanks.

reader, anonymous, writes (16 April 2008): im 14 and i smoke cigarettes sometimes and really only a few doesnt do anything its fun and people are wayyyy to serious about its affects those are for people who smoke a lot if its only a little bit its not a health risk

reader, anonymous, writes (1 April 2008): The reason people still smoke, in spite of all they have been shown about its effects on the body, is the same reason people have always smoked.
Because it FEELS good to them. It is a narcotic. This is why those anti-smoking messages will never succeed. They refuse to discuss or agknowledge why people get addicted to these things in the first place, what it is that keeps them going back for more when they know what it does to them physiologically speaking.
Its the same for all drugs. Pot is bad for you (though not as bad a ciggarettes) and those who smoke know this full well. But they go back because they feel amazing when they hit that high so easily.
Drugs will always be a problem until life off them becomes a much hapier prospect then the high they get on them can provide.
And you can be assured that will never happen.
Oh and I have never smoked a sing reefer or ciggarette or done any drugs in my entire life. But I won't condemn those who do.

But if it was one of my friends then i would just sit them down and talk to them and if that didnt work the n well I would just make a movie or a slid show that would tell them why it is bad forthem and all of hat stuff it will be better comein from a friend than an adult because she would come to u before she would go to an adult!!!!!!!!!!!:~)
