Mutual friend does not approve

Question - (8 February 2010) 3 Answers - (Newest, 8 February 2010)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

There is a guy that I like and I am pretty sure he likes me back too. We have a mutual friend whom I just told that I like said guy. This friend says that she does not approve of this because he is too complicated. She has known him longer than I have but she also has a history of liking him (she says she is now over him) and hating all of his past girlfriends. Should I pursue this relationship further or just stay as friends?
