A female United States age 51-59, anonymous writes:

We know most women enjoy the lights off and men want the lights on, lol. Why is this?

What does it mean when the lights are on and he looks into your eyes during sex and when he has an orgasm? What does it mean when a guy looks into your eyes often?

Just curious, Thanks for advice and opinions :)

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful answers. I truly believe this man is in love with me but we have obstacles. He is the only man I have ever had such an eye opening connection with on every level. I hope his intentions are true when he looks into my eyes. I really do. He is the most incredible lover!! And, he is an incredible man outside the bedroom. Our circumstances just suck :(

His Actions Speak Louder than his Words.

Listen up, If your man wants the light on you are a lucky women. It means he is in to YOU, thank God. Lights off makes it so much easier to imagine you are with someone else! Aso, men are VERY visual and really NEED visual stimulation. If you believe that you are too unnatractive to be seen in the light by the man who loves you than you should probably leave him because i don,t think it shows love to expect him to have sex with a hideous woman and marriages seldom survive without sex. The last statement is meant to be sarcastic but there is truth there if you think about it. He does not think you are unnattractive if he wants to see you during sex so you need to start finding YOURSELF attractive!

You really have to look at how they treat you when you aren't having sex to tell how they feel about you. All it really means is that is how he is in bed. He could be the same with a one night stand or intimate relationship.

Men have enough sex alone. If someone is actually in the room with us, we want to make sure we can see them.

Men are generally more visual than women, hence the reason porn for men is such a bigger market than porn for women.

As mentioned before, a lot of women prefer the lights off out of not liking their bodies so much on show.

There are lots of reasons why a guy may look into your eyes often, he could be trying to read indications of your level of pleaseure from your face, or it could simply be a sign of love.

I am a woman and I love the light left on... I like to admire my man....his body, and watching him do things to me, its extremely arousing!

As for the eyes; for me eyes are very sexy, and I believe if you are in love and turned on you want to look each other in the eye... IT IS ALL A BIG TURN ON!! I guess this is the same for men too and that is why they do it! Or am I turning into a man.. LOL!!

DoubleM agony auntIn all my years (I'm over 60 now) and possibly nearing 10,000 climaxes, I cannot recall even one when my eyes were open during actual ejaculation. I keep forgetting to try, and seem to always miss any visual during that several seconds, whether release is for her orally or vaginally. But I've typically preferred very low and exotic lighting during sexual activity, though lights out is also fine with me.

A reader, anonymous, writes (5 February 2011):

Well, I'm a woman and I like to have the lights on, but that's just me. My guess is the reason a lot of women like to have the lights off is because they are insecure about the way their bodies look so they're afraid to get naked in front of their partners with the lights on.

On the other hand, the reason men like the lights on is because they find their partner attractive and want to be able to see her during sex. If a man is looking in your eyes a lot, I'm guessing that just means he's really into you and you're the only one on his mind, so be thankful. :) The only time you should worry is if he's looking the other way or if he's the one who wants to turn the lights off.

Illithid agony auntHe's looking into your eyes, keeps looking at you and not just your body, but making real eye contact even as he climaxes? Sounds like there's no doubt that he's fully involved with YOU. No fantasies of other women. No disinterested sex just going through the motions. No strictly physical sex just to get off. Sounds like he's really trying to make a connection with you.
