A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I was just wondering if I could grow any taller. I'm going to be very detailed here so be ready.

I just turned 19 on Aug. 3. And the last time I measured myself was Feb 22, 2011. I was about 1/2 and inch taller on Feb 22 than the year before. I'm pretty sure I've been the same height since February.. But I did grow! I'm like 2 millimeters under 5'9. My dad is about 5'8. My father was a early bloomer. He is VERY hairy. Arms, legs, hands, feet, face. There is hairy and very hairy, he's very hairy. He told me that he started growing thick arm hair by age 12-13! He told me he stopped growing at 21. According to my dad, one of his uncles was 6'6!! My dad's brother is about 5'11 and he said he has a few male relatives that are over 6 ft.

My brother is 22 and is 6'1 1/2. Now he too was a very early bloomer. He reached about 6'-6'1 by 14! He was always the tall kid as a child, but I have pictures to prove his enormous growth. There is a picture of him and my dad when he was 13 and he was already 3-4 inches taller than my dad in the picture. At 13! He grew roughly 8 inches (maybe more) in about 2 years. It was a while back I can't remember but he grew A SHIT LOAD in a short period of time. He didn't really grow after 15, if I remember correctly. He too is hairy, arm hair, leg hair, can grow a full mustache in one day and a thick goatee. Haven't seen him grow a beard.

Me? I have little arm hair, barely visible. I do have hairy legs, feet, pubes. But my navel hair is started a few months ago. Hairs are still forming on my thighs. I can't grow a full mustache or goatee. It's extremely fine hair and prickly. I get mistaken for a young high school kid by all adults that I meet. My mom is just under 5'2 btw. I was just wondering if there is still time for me to grow. Judging by the earliness of my dad/brother, I envy my brother. Can growth still be possible for me?

angelDlite agony auntits hard to say coz usually i think men stop growing around age 20, BUT there might be hope for you coz you said that you have not really developed fully yet in terms of your hairiness so hopefully you still have some growing to do. if you never grow any taller though you are just gonna have to come to terms with it and learn to love yourself how you are coz height is pretty much the only thing that cosmetic surgery can't fix. you can still look good. you're not too short anyway. what are the men on your mum's side of the family like? maybe you have inherited characteristics from them

A female reader, anonymous, writes (27 August 2011):

Men stop growing at around the age of 21. Dark haired people have more hair folicles than their fair counter parts. Not all siblings grow to near the same height.

You therefore have to take these factors into consideration.

It could be a bonus that you dont have to shave as much as your father and your brother, and being very tall means people have to locate stores that specialise in making extra long leg trousers!
