 I think this all really depends on the quality of your relationship with your ex and why you split up. Perhaps you had a very good relationship with your ex but something went wrong which maybe shouldn't have happened, I don't know.
Did you get with your new boyfriend not long after splitting from your ex? This can also be a reason as not much time would have passed by to enable you to get over him.
Eventually, thoughts of your ex will subside. The best thing to do is concentrate on your boyfriend and reassure yourself that eventually you will stop thinking about your ex. Just allow the time to pass.

 What happened between you and your ex, how did you meet, split up what was that month you were with him like? It would be easier to answer your question if you fill us in on your last relationship and your new one.How long had you and your ex split up for until you got with this new guy?
