writes:Okay so I started talking to this guy about a month ago everything seemed so perfect with us and he constantly said how happy he was with me and he thought it was a miracle that we were together (the normal things guys say that almost every girl believes) but the thing is that he really meant all of it... We started dating almost imediately and I was never happier!! But a couple days ago out of nowhere he messaged me and said he needed to be completely honest with me about his past and he never wanted to hurt me because he really cared. The message he sent basically said that he has been talking to this girl for about a year now on and off and she is his first love... some stuff happened with them a while back and they split up because she treated him horrible which caused their relationship to continue to fail. But now they are talking again and I kinda feel like i was just kicked to the curb... he said he really likes me and still cares and maybe we can still be friends but I don't want that... Should I give up on us every being back together or what...? I'm so confused and need help with this whole situation!!

 Well... he seems to have made his decision! He is emotionally involved with his "first love" and is unwilling to let that go yet. You could, of course, hang around to see what happens... but, knowing you will probably get hurt in the long run.
Emotional ties are really hard to break and until he can let that relationship go he will not be ready nor willing to commit to you. It is good he came through with the information... in your case, I would definitely withdraw from the picture. Oh... and the friend thing never works when one of the two wants something more!
