I am 16 and have had 2 sexual partners. My first, was very kind and considerate about everything but one thing she did just slightly mention once was that i have a "soft-cock". at first i didnt register what she meant (and she definitely did not mean it in a nasty way) but recently i have starte dto notice that my erect penis is still faiirly soft and although it is not limp he entire way, the base seems to not be able to keep it erect unless i tense it,

for example if i lie down it come down near my stomach, so when receiving blowjobs my new gf has to hold it up, she hasnt mentioned anything but i think what my first said has stuck in my mind. Is this irregular? can i do somehting about it?

Im worried because although it may not be a major trouble now it could get worse as i get older

please help. x

Ok dude, Step number one... if your thinking you already have a problem then the problem is there for you to worry. If the girls tell you something about you... then time to change girls partners. Specially when it comes to your privates. You also may have been going through something that is worrying you besides what the girl told you about your penis. Find out deep in your heart and love yourself more. you'll see the difference. keep enjoying your sexual life and always safe.

I have the same problem and a girl told me that it is because my dick is too long and heavy! Not bosting at all about this it worries me. Years ago it used to stand up better but as I have gotten a bit older it hangs - I wish I could get it to stand up. Is there any pills or something that could help?????

Thanx

Like Doctor Pete, your erection is supposed to point towards your head when you're lying down. If it's pointing towards the ceiling, that wouldn't be quite normal unless you've been bending it downwards every chance you get since birth...

Hi, the same thing has happened to my brother who is incidently 16. He told me that he was having erection problems, he is a virgin but I guess when he was jerking off he noticed that things weren't quite right. Anyway, I took him to the doctor's who did a physical exam of his testicles and he had an ultrasound scan done too. It turned out he had something called 'undescended testes' meaning your balls haven't dropped properly. It can become something very painful and serious if untreated. Eventually when we got the diagnosis he was grown up enough to tell my Dad. My Mum is dead so I guess that is why he came to his older sister. I am 16 years older than him and I was flattered that he could talk to me. My Dad wasn't too happy that he had had two appointments unbeknown to him but he wanted it sorted out as the long-term effects are not very pleasant. My Dad went to the hospital with him and consultations and everything. He ended up having surgery a month ago, he didn't tell anyone at school. When one of the lads at school asked him where he had been for 3 days he said he had had his tonsils out. He is functioning well one month afterwards. He also had a circumcision at the same time so things would be cleaner down there too. My brother is a rock hard rugby player who is 6ft 3 and he is very happy he got it done now rather than having his confidence taken away on his first time. He feels a lot more confident about his manhood. Get yourself to the doctors and do it because this is easily fixed. He is back playing rugby with a month off and wears a piece down his front just for extra protection. Go and see your GP ASAP!

Hi Ogga

I'm not really sure about the soft-cock comment but I can assure you, penis's are supposed to point towards your head horizontally if you are lying down, if they were to point up naturally there would be something seriously wrong with you.

So I think you are totally worrying over nothing. This worry could easily contribute to a weakening of an erection, it's a vicious circle. There is nothing wrong with you, go and enjoy being with your girlfriend =)

xxxsoulsistaxxx agony auntThis is not abnormal. Every penis lies down on the stomach when it's hard and the man lies down, it's just the way it points!

Don't worry about it, I'm sure it's fine.

Saz464 agony auntThis isn't a bad thing - don't be embarassed. As long as you can still reach orgasm then there's nothing to worry about in my opinion. Any girl you're going to sleep with should be completely understanding and kind about it.

A female reader, mcbirdie United Kingdom +, writes (25 April 2007):

mcbirdie agony auntIt's not unusual at all. I had a partner who had a very large, strong erection, yet still didn't stand upright while lying down.

It is possible to gain some control over your penis's movements by doing Kegel exercises, which strengthen the pelvic wall muscles (same things that women do, just to a slightly different result). You can find the muscles by stopping peeing once you start--what you just did there, do again when you're not peeing and you've done your first Kegel. My partner was able to get such control over his penis that he could move it at will, this way.

You can also try cock rings. They give you a stronger erection by preventing blood from leaving your penis (by squeezing the vessels on the surface of your penis which let blood flow away), yet not preventing more blood from coming in (by not squeezing the main vessel which is deeper in your shaft). You can get cock rings which are quite unobtrusive and won't really be noticeable during sex (other than by having an erection that is harder and lasts longer), or you can get a vibrating ring which clearly adds a bit more.

Beyond that, though, I wouldn't worry about it too much if you're able to enjoy sex. Penises are all different. I am sure your partner only commented because she hadn't seen too many, and you were different from the last one she had seen. The next one will be different too, though...they're like wonderful little snowflakes. :)

katrinadeon agony aunti think you need to stop worrying, as you are still young youre body is still developing. also every penis is different if you are still able to enjoy sex and to pleasure your girlfrend then that is the main thing. i think the more you worry about this the more it is going to become and issue and the more its going to bother you. the more it bothers you the worse it will seem to get. so just relax. if you really want to put youre mind a rest then visit your doctor. also just slow down a bit. i know you are the legal age to have sex and at first it is exciting but honestly as you get older you may regret some of the people wh you had a sexual relation with.just enjoy your youth, it goes too quicky and whatever you do do it safely! xx
