bit of an embarresing question but im really worried. if foreplay is too rough is it normal to get a friction type rash around you clitirus. also i always seem to be really red and swollen after sex which flares up over the next few hours and sometimes takes days to die down. could this be the result of a condom allergy? ive been to a gum clinic already so i know its not an std? any help would be appreciated x

A male reader, anonymous, writes (20 January 2007):

The whole point of foreplay is to stimulate the blood flow to the clitirus which makes it swell this is normal for it to remain for 10-15 mins even after sex, as for the rash and swelling for the few days after foreplay you could well have a allergic reation to the latex in the condoms i would consulte your doctor for tests and if this is so, if this is the case you can get latex free condoms from the chemists. Try not to worry too much and just enjoy the moment.
