martini agony auntIt may not necessary become a 'truth serum', but it can definitely make anyone more confident... [wink]

A female reader, Strumpet +, writes (16 March 2006):

It's hard to generalise as it really depends on the person and how they tolerate their drink! I've experienced the same person being extremely truthful when he is drunk, and then other times being an annoying, aggressive individual who isn't entirely honest!

Drink gives you more confidence to perhaps say things you wouldn't ordinarily....doesn't mean it's always going to be the truth though!!

Hope this helps :o)

willywombat agony auntWell we used to call it *vodka truth serum* when we had a drink, but that goes for men and women. Our inhibitions are down and we say things without thinking....so I think it can be sometimes.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (16 March 2006):

Hi, although im not male, i just wanted to say from experience with guys i think that the truth comes out (from girls or guys) but with much exaggeration. For example, my current boyfriend, he poured out his feelings for me one night after we had been drinking (i was going through something) and he helped me. i asked around my friends after, and they said he had felt this way for 2 years. so i do believe in SOME cases, the true colors & emotions come out. of course there are the mean drunks and in their case i dont believe that thats who they really are, but they might have emotional problems. anyway, thats just my opinion. hopefully guys will answer, bc i'd be interested to know what they say too.
