Assalamu Alaykum,

If his parents are Muslim then you can't marry without their permission. Some people say that you can marry without your parents permission if you ask them and they do not give you a valid reason. But the majority of people believe that you cannot marry without parents permission.

In the UK you have to be 16 to get married. So....if you want to get married theres not alot parents can do about it, in the eyes of the law that is. I have heard of Muslim parents making life very hard but I dont see the problem, he is also Muslim, usually the problems start with inter racial relationships. So Good Luck - Go and be happy, you are the one that has to spend the rest of your life with him x

I believe you need to be 18 or over to get married if you don't want parental permission. As for just having an Islamic marriage (not a country recognized marriage) as long as you have an imam to support and marry you. Talk to the leaders at your mosque and see. If this young man is established and a good person, you might want to wait and try to convince your parents of this before you rick ostracizing yourself from them.

good luck
