KittieS agony auntActually not only is it normal but it's a good practise to have to avoid infections such as cystitis, as it helps clear any bacteria - a quick wipe with a wet flannel or sponge is also a good idea.

A female reader, Candid Cally United States +, writes (3 November 2011):

Chigirl is spot on. It is a completely natural reflex that occurs to cleanse a woman's urethra of any naturally occurring vaginal bacteria and fungi that may have entered during the act of sexual intercourse (the urethra and vagina are in the same area) and could cause a bladder or urinary tract infection if it wasn't removed.

Forgive the pun, but just go with your body's flow when it comes to urinating after sex.

chigirl agony auntCommon, and healthy! I always pee after sex as a routine to prevent a urinary tract infection. I recommend peeing after sex as it helps prevent an infection. So it's a good thing that you do!

A female reader, person12345 United States +, writes (3 November 2011):

person12345 agony auntIt's normal, that thrusting can hit your g-spot and bladder. It's also a really good idea. During sex the thrusting can push bacteria up your urinary tract and cause UTIs. Peeing after sex clears that bacteria out and helps prevent infection.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (3 November 2011):

Perfectly normal. The biological reason why is because your body is protecting itself from foreign matters that could cause urinary infections by simply 'flushing' the system.
