Is it sick to have sex while you're on your period? I did it with my ex but my new boyfriend is sickened by it and will hardly touch me when I'm on! The other day, he was really in the mood and I was just coming off my period. We had sex but he treated my like some kind of diseased animal, putting a towel down and running to the toilet afterwards! I know it's not the nicest thing for a guy to see but it was his idea! I felt so rejected, as obviously this is normal for me. Am I being silly?

I think that it is really up to the couple with me and my parner since we have sex regularly. When I'm on my period we do not have sex .Instead of getting to know each other physicaly we talk and understand he personality of one another you'd be surprised but it actually brings us closer together.

Me and my boyfriend tried it for the first time this afternoon, we both found really pleasureable. Found it stopped stomach cramps too, would recommend it to experienced couples.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (12 July 2007):

I think he needs to grow up a little, periods are a fact of life for us ladies and if he wants to stay with you he will have to get used to the fact that it will happen every month. If he treats you like 'a dieseased animal' I would say that he is having sex for the sake of it and not because he wants it with you due to being attracted to the person you are. 99% of men do not think like this and most are not worried by it, I say if he cannot grow up find someone who is a bit more considerate.

Yes it is perfectly normal. re your boyfriend; I don't think he is jerk, he is just obviously a bit immature about bodily functions. perhaps you should point out that semen isn't exactly the most delightful substance but you put up with it!!

my boyfriend is cool about having sex if I want to when I am having my period, but equally understands if I don't feel like it... it's all about what both of you are comfortable with, if your boyfriend is going to make you feel that uncomfortable about it, is he really considering you enough that you want to be with him?

It's a huge turn on to me, babe. Don't feel bad about you or your body. Feel bad about your bf not accepting you as the beautiful creature you are!

A reader, anonymous, writes (7 September 2006):

Well me and my bf put a towel down, otherwise it can get a bit messy. I don't think that in itself is a bad thing but running to the toilet after? Showering is a good idea, either during or after.

Maybe you could point out the benifits of sex while on? Woman are more sensitive when they are on, so getting you in the mood should be easy and you're more likly to go all the way too! Or if that usually happens anyway, more often! Also you're gonna be extra slippy in there which will feel good for him. Oh, and if you get headaches or other pains a little sex clears that right up, which in turn helps to make you cheerier and less all over the place. (Not that I'm irrasional when on, not at all *cough*)

Seriously though, talk to him, maybe he has a fear of blood or something? He should know how it makes you feel and have a chance to say his bit.

A reader, anonymous, writes (5 September 2006):

Some men just aren't mature enough to handle or accept a woman for all that she is-no matter if she is on her cycle or not.

I haven't had complaints and rather; have been asked to do so which my intial reaction was "What?".

It isn't sick or wrong by any means. I find it more pleasurable as did my Exes.

In the future just do so in the shower. Showers are always fun!!

Just say: Lather me Up!!

I guess it also depends on the woman and her flow; mine last three days and is very heavy on the first day.

A reader, anonymous, writes (3 September 2006):

A lot of people are disgusted with having sex with a girl on her period. Seriously. Even some girls I know are disgusted with that subject.

Eg: my ex thought it was super messy and nasty, but we did it anyway. It was super messy and gross, but I couldn't help but laugh anyhow.

However, your guy is an idiot. Like you said, he initiated it when he already knew. The least he could have done was be so much less revolting and more sensitive to you! 8E

bonym agony auntIts a matter of personal choice, I dont think your boyfriend is a jerk or indeed that he is treating you bad he obviously doesnt like it, every one has their own likes and dislikes, so now my dear now you have established that he doesnt like it, you have to compromise, relationships may often involve some form of compromise. If you dont think its sick to have sex on your period, fine, I personally find it extremely uncomfortable during that time of the month and certainly wouldnt want sex, but mydear we are all different, so try to work it out together. Take care. xXx
