The only thing I can do to stop it is sleeping it off and it takes a while for me to fall asleep with all the discomfort. So I'm just wondering if its normal for me to go through all that pain? Should I go to my doctor and get a prescription for it?

Yes, I had the same problems with my period too. I usually use midol or pamprin, and a hot towel or heating pad on my lower belly to relieve some of the pain. If you get on any kind of hormonal birth control it usually helps, as the other posters have said. If you're prone to puking, however, taking the pill might be hard. If you want to try it, think about getting the Depo shot instead. You get it 4 times a year, and within two or three months you usually stop having periods at all!
