I'm worried that I might be pregnant. Can I take a normal pill to reduce the risk?

A female Oman age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I've had intercourse with my boyfriend before yesterday and though he did not blow his load in me I am still worried about the chances of me being pregnant. Therefore, just in case and to be on the safe side he looked for the emergency pill which somehow is not being sold anywhere here.

My period is supposed to come in a little more than a week.

Can I take the normal pills instead? Will it be effective? the pills are meant to be taken during my first menstruation day... can I take it now before that??

My main concern is to eliminate any chances of pregnancy in case there was a sperm in me. Can I do that with a normal birth control pill?

there is a pill called plan b that is over the counter. Just go to the pharmacy and ask them. It is not a form of abortion. The way it works is it thickens the lining of your uterus, in case the egg has indeed been fertilized, so that it can not attach and it will flow out with your period. It is 80 percent affective and it has worked for me.Condoms and birth control aren't always affective either so choose wisely what your going to do if all else fails.

As soon as a guy get excited and there is any kind of leakage, as is usually a tiny amount during the whole time, there are sperm present in all of it, so yes it could be possible.

Why did you not use protection and why did you not know this before having sex? Sex is a serious thing and so is pregnancy and so are STD's.

PROTECTION is the only way to go !

Ok... I'm going to tell you the facts.. I'm very sorry if they're not what you want to hear.

I don't think that would actually give you anymore protection, There are two different kinds of the "Normal Pill", one form of the "normal pill" builds up mucous around the cervix, preventing sperm from getting into you womb, which will have already happened by now if there was sperm inside you and the other kind Prevents ovulation, which should have already happened by now.

I don't know about the health care system in Oman, but maybe you should go to a doctor and ask there... They would be able to tell you where you could get the morning after pill. You may also need a perscription, I don't know.

The peek time to get pregant before your perisod is two weeks, so you're at quite a fertile stage, but you have only just passed your most fertile stage which is when you ovulate. There is a chance you could be pregnant due to pre-come. I have had friends in a similar situation to you and they ended up fine, but you really should go to a doctor as soon as possible... The longer you leave it the less effective the morning after pill will be.

Good Luck Sweety... I'm sure you'll be fine. Try not to panic or get too stressed about the situationas as that can make your period late.

Let me know how you get on.

Emivia. x

Sorry honey that your feeling worried. Unfortunately I have no information about what you can do in Oman. I do not know your laws and have no idea what is available.

I don't think the normal pill will help, (it takes at least a month to work) but I do know that where ever you get these contraceptive pills from can also give you advice. Go to where they give out contraception and ask what you can do. Sorry I could not give better advice.
