How do I control my temper? I'm constantly on edge at the moment and even little things have me snapping at people. I feel so edgy and unable to relax...could it be to do with the fact that I'm really really tired at the moment?

Any advice would be great...thanks!

Laura1318 agony auntYou can Google and find all those tips online.

You need to get enough sleep and learn to relax. Do not take more tasks than you can handle.

When you find that you cannot complete those tasks , you become edgy.

Be fair to yourself and don't be too harsh on yourself if you find that you are lacking in certain departments.

Keep your life simple.

A male reader, rcn United States + , writes (28 February 2008):

rcn agony auntIt could be that you're tired. Being tired can trigger edgy feelings. I want you to look at the snapping a different way though. It's a matter of changing behaviors. Change is actually a quick process, what takes the time is working up to the change. Your first sentence says it all How do "I" control "my" anger. Things happen in all our lives. Felling edgy, not having time to relax, being tired is a reality for so many people. The trick is to realize your temper is a choice. All these things happen that cause you stress and being edgy, but how you deal with them is a choice. You need to keep repeating to yourself that you are not going to snap because of the situation and that you choose the reaction when you do.

Keep a journal. Everytime you get angry over these small issues write it down, what you got angry about, and did you yell or call names etc. Then, when not so angry read back the situation and list what choice you could have made to deal with or settle the issue in a beneficial, and positive manner.

Believe me, when the change happens, you can go back and read your journal and you won't understand how these small issues were responded to the way you initially had.

I hope this helps, take care
