A reader, anonymous, writes (2 March 2011):

Buddhists spend most of their time by themselves and meditate in silence using a mantra to try and separate themselves from our world and understand the secret of the universe as a whole. They feel Buddha received true knowledge by this method , so no you don't really need to go to church. Just meditate a lot.

The Realist agony auntI don't think you would have to go to church at all. Spirituality is about how you feel inside and how you live your life. If you want to go to church it may be a good way to learn about where you can research this but I don't believe church is required for any religion.

There may be buddist groups in your city that you could find out about and learn through them otherwise books are probably the best way to go. Internet being second best because you want to avoid peoples opinions on the religion blocking the view of the religion itself.

CindyCares agony aunt I think I can give you some infos and answer your questions about Buddhist practice, but you'd better PM me,

I don't think a philosophical - religious thread would be much fun for all Dear Cupiders !
