writes:I'm very confused about this guy is he straight or gay. Before we started talking their were a couple of instances he'd stare at me once in a supermarket once or twice in my gym. We started talking through one of the social media platforms and what I thought was just chit chat my friend thinks was interest and flirting....... I did some detective work and from what I can gather his most likely straight and has a girlfriend although nothing concrete found. Also he does wear a thumb ring which everyone I've ever know to wear one is gay. See I'm bi and I do think his hot but until my friend said it I didn't think of anything more than friends.

 The only way off knowing for sure is to continue to get to know him, the more comfortable you get with each other then hopefully the more he will open up about who he is. Just don't expect anything, as friends could just be trying to set you up with someone. Follow your own gut instinct.

 Just because he stares at you does not necessarily mean he fancies you. Perhaps he was admiring your body and thinking "I would really like a body like that".
If you are chatting with in on social media, why don't you suggest going out for a drink one night. It should be relatively easy to ask general questions which will give you the information you need.
Do remember though that, even if he is gay, and even if he fancies you, he may not be free.

 I'm confused about why you are asking. How would we know? You need to find out at your end. We can't see that far. Ask some questions. Get in conversation with him. Be a bit of a detective. But please don't make us guess.
