A female United States age 30-35, *tinak writes:

Help! I am almost 22 years old and still live at home. Just recently, my boyfriend and I went through a horrible break up and my parents saw me when i was at an all time low. So, they hate him obviously. My boyfriend and I truly love each other though, and we are working things out for the better..Him and I are planning a trip to Chicago in a couple weeks, and I am afraid to tell them I am going! They are very overbearing, and I'm starting to feel like I should just hibernate in my room until I am ready to financially be stable enough to move out. It's a horrible feeling not being able to live life..What am I to do?????

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (16 July 2010):

Sometimes, young people can screw up big. If I'd listened to my mother more, I would not be in the mess that I am now. What I am saying, is that this guy and you went through a big break up, and you ended up very hurt. Perhaps this is a man you should not be with. Because you don't want to move out, only to find that it goes wrong again and your parents were right. Think really carefully about this guy. If it went badly wrong once, it is likely to go badly wrong again.
