I'm a senior, should I date a freshman?

A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I guess this is more a matter of me conflicted with myself.

Last night, a group of us (me, a good friend of mine, his girlfriend and 3 of her friends) wet to a haunted house. Long story short, me and one of her friends spent an awful lot of time together.

The only problem I have with this girl, is shes a freshman, and im a senior. Now, I wont turn 18 until right before I graduate, and I have dated girls 2 years younger than me no problem, and shes only 2-3 years younger than me, but she just seems so young at 15… although she is very mature for her age. I know the age difference isn’t much, but I don’t even think I know of one freshman-senior relationship by respectable people in my school.

On the other hand, lately ive been talking with a girl that I almost dated 2 years ago, and have always liked. Right now shes injured and homeschooled and I probably wont see her till christmas, which means I wouldn’t be dating her till after christmas.

I think ive already made up my mind Id like to atleast try dating the freshman, I guess im just more in shock right now. I thought I knew what I wanted for 3 years, and now that’s all been changed by 3 hours, and I very well know by choosing one I most likely lose the other.

Ive tried to think of it both ways, that if its going to be just a short relationship, then who cares how old she is, as long as I have fun, or if its going to be a long relationship then ill only be 21 when she graduates, and that 2/3 years age difference wont mean a thing.

Idk do you think its too much of a difference or should I stick with the girl that if she wasn’t at home id be dating now.

as long as your not going to pressure the girl into anything sexual seeing as she is younger then you then it sounds fine. age is only a number and if you like her then you should really go for it. theres no reason to not date someone you really like just because shes a bit younger.

tennisstar88 agony auntDate em both, but not at the same time of course. 3 years age difference isn't that big of a deal. Just note you can't do anything sexual with her yet till she is of age of legal consent, which ranges from 16-18 depending on your state. You like her, ask her out then obey the law for the time being. If it's short lived then you have the other home bound girl.
